Description:

Offworld Defender is a Tower Defence game where you, the player, are a space colony’s last hope against an invading horde of aliens. The player starts off with nothing but a gun – no defences, no backup. Killing the invaders rewards the player with funds to spend on automated defence systems to help combat the increasingly aggressive attackers.

Controls:

Move: W, A, S, D

How To Play:

Main Menu

This is the screen you will see upon starting the game. By navigating the menu on the left, you can choose to either start a new game, load your most recent save game, or change your settings.

Game Screen

This is the main game screen. Your player character will start off near the centre of the screen. You can move them around with the W,A,S,D keys, and shoot by left clicking somewhere on the background. On each corner of the screen is an element of the user interface.

The top left displays current available funds.
The top right displays the current wave number.
The bottom left displays your remaining life count.
The bottom right displays the amount of time until the next wave starts.

In the centre of the screen there are 10 tower positions you can build towers on. You can view the tower overlay by left clicking on a tower position.

There are 3 different towers to choose from when building, and each has its own strength and strategic use. Hovering over the buttons on the overlay will reveal more details about each tower. However, before building a tower, you must first kill enemies to earn enough funds.

Enemies only spawn in waves. To call the next wave early, you can press the exclamation mark button on the right side of the screen.

There are two different types of enemy. The first is the regular enemy (pictured below on the left), and the second is the armoured enemy (on the right). Killing an enemy rewards the player with 5 funds to spend on towers.

Once you have built a tower, you can upgrade or sell it by clicking on the tower. A new overlay will appear atop it with buttons for each operation. Hovering over the buttons will again reveal more details.

You can pause the game at any time by pressing the Escape key. This will bring up the pause menu.

From here you can choose to either resume the game, save the game, change your settings, or quit back to the menu. Note that you can only save the game during the time between waves.

The goal of the game is to survive for as many waves as possible. The game will end if enough enemies make it to the left side of the map and your lives drop below 1.
