Week 2 - Animation and Character Rigging
This week's self-study was all about character rigging and animating. Since I've never really made anything close to a humanoid figure in Blender before, I looked up a tutorial I could follow and happened upon this tutorial by Single Sapling Games on YouTube. It was quite easy to follow (even though it admittedly took me far longer than the 10 minute runtime of the video to complete my version), and I'm quite proud of how it turned out. Here's an image of the reference pose:
Next was the rigging and animating, which I followed the official Blender tutorials for. My final rig wasn't the absolute best, but for this excercise it would be more than sufficient. The last and hardest part for me was the actual animations, which took numerous attempts to get looking somewhat decent. Here are some gifs showing them in action:

Waving
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out and I'm looking forward to importing my rigged model into Unity to experiment a little!
